I was going to post more about PT and my progress, but honestly, it's just not that interesting. I went to PT for the first time last Monday (7/12). I liked the PT - she mostly asked a lot of questions to get an idea of where I was and where I wanted to be after PT in terms of activity, range of motion, strength, etc. She did a bunch of tests with my left leg and my right leg. The difference was amazing. She would push in a direction with my right leg and I pushed back and my leg wouldn't move. When she did the same thing with my left leg, she was just pushing me around. Rough. It looks like a 12 year old version of my leg. Just skinny and no muscle. I have a long road ahead, but even in the past week, it's gotten easier. She gave me some exercises to do on my own at home, and I did them 6 out of 7 days last week. It helps that there is nothing else going on - that is my workout. Sad but true.
On Wednesday when I went back to the PT, she said I could start on the stationary bike. That was tough. I had to move the seat pretty high so I could get my leg around. The down motion was ok, but when I got to the top of the motion where the knee is the most bent, it hurt like hell. Pushing past those moments are good though, and I was proud that I was able to bike for 10 minutes (the last 5 minutes were better since the motion got easier the more I kind of "warmed it up"). Then she kind of helped me stretch (since your muscles are super tight from surgery and not being stretched), and I finished with iceing. Iceing is my fav part of PT for sure.
